Mary Madison
Mary is a native of Homestead, Florida, and she has
been very active in bonsai for the past thirty years.
She was influenced and taught the art of bonsai by the
late John Naka and by Ben Oki, to whom she is extremely
grateful.
Mary has conducted workshops and demonstrations in
the U. S. and the Caribbean, mostly with tropical trees
as the subject. She also is an avid collector of buttonwoods
and has earned the nickname "The Buttonwood Lady." She
has been honored to have one of her trees selected for
exhibit in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum at the
U.S. National Arboretum. Mary collects her material
in the swamps of south Florida along with the company
of snakes and alligators.
She has served as President of the Bonsai Society of
Miami and on the Board of Directors of the Bonsai Societies
of Florida, the American Bonsai Society and Bonsai Clubs
International.
