Guy J. Guidry
From the New Orleans area, Guy has been practicing bonsai for over 20 years, and credits his mentor, Vaughn Banting, for developing his formidable skills. For the past 9 years, he has been owner and operator of Bonsai Northshore, a nursery specializing in mainly large specimen trees.
Guy has learned much about growing and designing bonsai from the nursery business, which has given him time to develop and perfect new techniques. His many years of studying and practicing the art has earned him a professional status as both a grower and a teacher. He has been dubbed "Guy the Eye" for his ability to quickly find the line in difficult and confusing material.
He has a great sense of humor and likes to have fun with trees. Guy's broad experience working with bonsai and his knowledge of horticulture is evident to all those whom he teaches. His enthusiasm is contagious, and his students quickly excel under his guidance.
Guy is very passionate about the art that is also his occupation; he considers his job "a labor of love." He has traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad giving lectures and demonstrations. Several of Guy's trees can be viewed at different museums and in various private collections in the USA.
