Objectives of NABF

In these fragile times, bonsai gives us solace and is an ideal vehicle to bring people together. Transcending religious and cultural differences, bonsai appeals directly to human beings' innate love of nature. Just as it has enthralled you and me, it will bring joy to others. This was the vision of Saburo Kato, John Naka and Ted Tsukiyama when they and others formed WBFF.

As WBFF pursues its noble goal of promoting world peace and friendship through bonsai, NABF will assume the vital roles of (i) disseminating and sharing with North American bonsai clubs information concerning all programs, actions and events sponsored by WBFF through its worldwide bonsai network and (ii) providing you and other North American bonsai clubs with the unique channel through which they can offer suggestions on and influence how WBFF carries out its global activities.

In carrying out NABF's mission, we intend to focus attention on activities that will help to ensure the continued vitality of the bonsai movement. Among other things, we will promote teaching bonsai to children, establish intern programs for the bonsai teachers of the future, and reach out to those who would not otherwise be exposed to bonsai. Because NABF is about giving the gift of bonsai to others and there is so much to be done in carrying out this worthy mission, we hope that you will give your wholehearted support to NABF. Your support and input will be critical to NABF's success!
