Okanagan bonsai clubs
by Len Bidwell & Jim Pugsley
The Kelowna Bonsai Club is located in the southern interior
of the province of British Columbia Canada Kelowna and region
has an urban population approaching 150,000. The area abounds
in a wide variety of climatic zones, making bonsai a collector’s
paradise; from a USDA zone 6 along the shores of Okanagan
Lake to an alpine climate on the ski slopes of some of the
7,000 foot mountains of the region.
Our club was founded in 1983 and has grown to 60 - 70 memberships
paid each year. We have had a goal to encourage new clubs
in the area, and in the past few years, clubs in the neighboring
cities of Penticton and Vernon have started.
